Aging is not a disease; it is a natural and normal process that governs life. Aged wine and cheese are considered a gourmet delicacy but aging skin is the downfall of human vanity.
The market is flooded with antiaging preparations and creams. There are creams that promise to inhibit the skin aging process and creams that claim to wipe years off your visual appearance.
Unfortunately the cosmetics industry is not regulated to the same extent as the drug industry is even though many creams actually cause physiological reactions and do interfere with the tissue normal processes.
Not all creams do actually deliver what they promise but some ingredients in them might be harmful to the skin or even worse, cause skin irritations or cancer.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is an organization that created a website that contains a database of ingredients in cosmetics. It lists toxic warnings and gathers information on safety of hundreds of ingredients. In their “Shoppers guide to safe cosmetics” EWG lists ingredients to avoid when shopping for cosmetics and more specifically anti aging cosmetics.
Under “products to avoid”, Anti aging ingredients listed are:
Lactic Acid, Glycolic acid, AHA acid and BHA acids.
General ingredients in creams and antiaging preparations to avoid are:
DMDM Hydntoin and Imidazoidinyl Urea – toxic contaminants
Methylchloroisothiazolinone – Allergies, affect the nervous system
Parabens or “—paraben” – Hormone effects
Sodium Lauryl or Laureth Sulfate – skin damage, toxic contaminants
Triclosan triclocarba – Thyroid and environmental concern
Triethanolamine (TEA) – allergies and toxic contamination.
These are the major components listed in the Shoppers guide to safe cosmetics.
To age gracefully one does not necessarily need to invest in expensive anti aging creams that might cause damage. It is important to eat healthy food, sleep well and keep levels of stress down. It is also possible to correct damage to skin by using different professional anti ageing treatments and technologies, such as using different lasers and radio frequency (e.g. Thermage). These different technologists work on the reproduction of collagen, therefore creating an anti aging response.
One of the most advanced Radio Frequency technologies is the TriPollar technology. The TriPollar STOP is a new home use device which uses the professional TriPollar technology. It creates significant anti-aging, skin rejuvenation and skin lifting effect.
The STOP uses TriPollar Radio Frequency technology to gently heat the skin from inside, affecting the deep layers of the skin. This process stimulates the collagen production and thickens the dermis; therefore, creating an antiaging, and tightening effect of the skin. Using the TriPollar STOP is a good investment for the future, it saves money on creams, it is very safe to use, and gives the most effective results one wants to see.

Cellulite, an aesthetic bother that most women are familiar with is indeed a female related condition (90-98% cases occur in women). Cellulite is created in the hypodermis adipose layer which is the first layer of fat bellow the dermis. In women this can be described as “standing fat-cell chambers” separated by connective tissue.
Men (obese and non-obese) hardly suffer from this condition because the epidermis, dermis and uppermost part of the subcutaneous tissue are different in males. The epidermis and dermis tissue layers in the thighs and buttocks are thicker in men and therefore contain more collagen that keep the skin even in appearance (not bumpy). In addition, the fat in the hypodermis subcutaneous layer, is slightly thinner in men, and is assembled into closed units separated by crisscrossing connective tissue. (In women the adipose layer is less structured and is divided by columns of connective tissue).
The cause of difference in subcutaneous structure between the genders is hormone related. It has been found that men that suffer from male/ female hormonal imbalance have a similar subcutaneous adipose structure as women.
Cellulite diet does not necessarily improve the cellulite appearance. The underlying fat-cell chambers do not change with a loss of weight. In addition, cellulite is caused mostly due to the reduction of skin elasticity and density as a result of a natural decline in collagen skin generation as we age. Skin elasticity is best up to the age of 35 to 40 years, collagen and elastic fibers can retract best to lesser volumes (from fat loss) before this chronological age. As we age, dieting will not improve the visual appearance of cellulite.
Many cellulite treatments have flooded the market. These include topical creams, lymphatic massage and drainage, natural herbs and supplements and many many more promising cures that do not always deliver the results they promise.

One of the most promising anti cellulite treatments in the markets is the TriPollar POSE , home use device, which is based on the unique Radio Frequency technology . POSE allows women and men to get rid of cellulite by using focused heat on the fat cells in the problematic areas. The TriPollar POSE heats the hypodermis layer of the skin, where the fat cells are located, therefore accelerates the secretion of liquid fat, and shrinks the size of the fat cells. Simultaneously, the collagen fibers in the skin contract, therefore smoothing the external appearance of cellulite, and creating a tighter looking skin.
Using the TriPollar POSE 2-3 twenty minutes treatments per week, for 6-8 weeks can create significant results in skin appearance.

As the life span of the world population increases, the anti-ageing cosmetic industry is blooming, the quantity and variety of anti aging treatments and anti-aging products has reached uncontrollable levels and it is easy to get confused when trying to decide on a treatment.
Unfortunately not all anti aging treatments are effective and in addition, some of the treatments might be harmful.
The cosmetic industry is “lightly” regulated by the FDA but there are many open loops in these rules and regulations, a product is approved as long as it lists the ingredients it contains, it is clean and does not contain known poisonous substances, there is no need to prove that they actually work.
So, how does one select a treatment when the choices are endless?
One misconception is that if it is more expensive it is probably better, beware of this logic…The major cost of the cosmetic product is actually the expense of advertising and packaging, which is why a small tube of anti aging serum might cost $300 and might not really be more effective than the $15 tube you purchase at the department store.
When purchasing anti aging creams, there is no use of investing in expensive formulas that contain collagen cream. Collagen is indeed an important component of the skin and it plays a major role in the aging process, but unfortunately collagen is a large protein that can not be absorbed through the skin without collagen injections or mechanical procedures.
In general collagen is best added to the skin through the process of regeneration. There are several methods that induce collagen re-generation, many of them are deployed in spas or by physicians.
Make sure the method is backed by clinical studies and publications, check that the company behind the product has a website with explanation of the technology, Before and After photos and of course clinical papers.
Collagen regeneration is also possible to induce via home treatments. One product on the market is the TriPollar STOP. STOP is an extraordinary new clinical skin renewal device that postpones and reverses the signs of ageing, bringing about a fresh, younger look that until now could only be achieved through professional treatments.
STOP uses TriPollar Radio Frequency technology to gently heat the skin from inside. This heat induces an increase in dermal activity resulting in the stimulation of collagen production and thickening of the dermis (the skin’s foundation) leading to visible skin tightening, firming and renewal.

“Beauty Sleep” is defined by Webster dictionary as: “Sleep before midnight, popularly thought to be most restful.”
Beauty sleep is not only a folkloric expression, sleep is actually an important phase when the body repairs and regenerates tissues, builds bone and muscle, and appears to strengthen the immune system, thus the connection between beauty and sleep actually makes sense.
The required sleep duration varies. Infants require 16-18 hours sleep a day (24 hours cycle), teenagers require about 9 hours, and most adults require 7-9 hours of sleep. Unfortunately the world population is suffering from a sleep deficiency that has become the norm.
So what is it about sleep (or the lack of it) that affects beauty? One does not have to be a professional about sleep and beauty to observe the physical affect of sleep deprivation: dull looking skin, dark circles under the eyes and stress wrinkles.
One of the important components involved in numerous aspects of the biological and physiologic regulation of body functions during sleep is the Human Growth Hormone (HGH). HGH is produced and secreted by the pituitary gland in surges throughout the day; the peak secretion is about one hour after sleep onset and %50 of HGH secretion occurs during delta wave sleep, stage 3;4 also called deep sleep. HGH is an important factor in the process of repair of damaged tissue including skin. While we sleep our skin actually goes through rejuvenation, therefore, missing out on precious sleep hours can void you the benefit of correction and healing of aging skin. In addition, sleep depravation will actually increase the levels of stress related hormones, for example Cortisol, and will enhance and accelerate the aging process of the body.
The production of HGH slows down as we age; many clinical studies have investigated the benefits of treatment with HGH on the aging process. In 1990, Dr Daniel Rudman’s study investigating the effect of treatment with HGH on men over 60 was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study demonstrated that HGH reversed many of the biggest markers of ageing – increasing skin thickness, reducing wrinkles and body fat, and increasing muscle mass by the equivalent of 10 to 20 years, in men in their sixties and seventies. However, the use of HGH for anti aging is controversial. Following is a quote from an article published by the Sunday Times (April 6th 2008) discussing benefits of HGH: ““The evidence that growth hormone is a proven anti-ageing agent is relatively small,” says Richard Ross, professor of endocrinology at the University of Sheffield. “Growth-hormone levels do drop after the age of 40, but, so far, nobody has proved that increasing them gets rid of wrinkles . It may have a marginal effect, but it won’t be miraculous.” Even the most committed HGH user will admit that it’s not a miracle cure. You only see the results with continued use, which means daily injections and a financial outlay of up to £20,000 a year…”
So, it is important to claim your beauty sleep to enjoy the benefits of natural free HGH activity during the small hours of the night. Not only will you look better, you will feel younger and will cope with the burden of the wake hours with grace.
Even though beauty sleep is a necessary condition, it is still not a satisfying condition for our skin to look young and rejuvenated.
STOP ® is a clinical renewal treatment for the face which offer genuine anti-ageing aesthetic results. STOP™ offers anti aging facial skin remodeling treatments and solutions that ensures younger and firmer skin.
